Description
The Oregon State University's Division of Extension and Engagement is seeking a Staff Development Specialist. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. The mission of the OSU Division of Extension and Engagement (division) is to work with communities throughout Oregon to support lifelong learning and co-create innovative solutions to address local challenges. The Staff Development Specialist is a team member of the division and is responsible for developing a comprehensive employee experience, from onboarding through offboarding, within the division and fulfilling the mission and vision of our Strategic Plan. This role will help shape the culture by integrating the division's history and values into the employee experience, ensuring long-term alignment with the organization's goals.
Key Duties:
- Serve as the division’s primary point of contact and advisor for employee onboarding, professional development, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness initiatives
- Design and implement division-wide onboarding and learning experiences
- Develop and coordinate mentoring, coaching, allyship, and peer-support programs that foster employee growth, connection, leadership development, and long-term success within the division
- Facilitate workshops, learning communities, retreats, and collaborative learning experiences that strengthen communication, leadership capacity, and organizational effectiveness
- Provide leadership and coordination for division-wide volunteer development initiatives, including volunteer learning resources, leadership development opportunities, and volunteer engagement practices
- Conduct new employee and volunteer experience interviews
- Develop and implement strategies for employee engagement and growth.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in organizational development, Extension, adult education, higher education administration, human resources, business administration, public administration, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in employee development, learning and development, organizational development, leadership development, human resources, Extension administration, higher education administration, or a related field.
- Experience developing or facilitating employee learning, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, engagement, or leadership development initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional initiatives that support employee development, organizational effectiveness, or organizational change.
- Experience designing, facilitating, or delivering training, workshops, learning experiences, or professional development programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience fostering a positive workplace culture, and a commitment to collaborative and respectful learning and working environments that are safe, inclusive, and welcoming.
- This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in higher education, Extension, government, or another large decentralized organization.
- Experience designing and facilitating learning, leadership development, coaching, mentoring, or professional development programs.
- Experience supporting organizational change and culture initiatives.
- Knowledge of human resources compliance and strategies.
- Experience with volunteer programs.
- Professional certification related to human resources, organizational development, coaching, facilitation, project management, or leadership development.
