Description
The Oregon Legislature is seeking its next Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead a highly skilled, diverse team of IT and media professionals through transformational changes to sunset legacy systems and move to an integrated, modern technology stack. Serving as the CIO for the Oregon Legislative Assembly is a high-impact leadership role that manages the infrastructure powering democracy for the state of Oregon and ensures day-to-day operational excellence. Technology is not a background support function here; it is the active conveyor belt of lawmaking. The CIO’s decisions impact how seamlessly 90 lawmakers, hundreds of staffers, and millions of Oregonians interact with the legislative process.
When the Legislature is in session, the Capitol building bustles with elected officials, staff, interns, and members of the public. The environment is exhilarating and fast-paced, demanding flawless IT and media system support and delivery. During the interim months, the focus shifts to high-level IT strategic projects, system modernizations, workforce development, and compliance. State capitols are prime, high-profile targets for advanced cyber threats and data disruptions. The Information Technology and Media Services team faces the challenge of securing confidential, pre-introduction draft bills and sensitive internal communications, all while ensuring that the civic-facing side of the network remains transparent and open to the public.
Our ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least nine years of relevant IT management experience, with a mind for continuous improvement and quality control. If you meet these qualifications and you are a strategic, innovative IT leader with a strong track record of delivering digital transformation and modernization, we want to hear from you!
This is a full-time, continuing position located at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem reporting to the Legislative Administrator. While remote work may be available when business needs allow, candidates should be aware that the Chief Information Officer will be working in-person on-site most of the time.
We encourage interested candidates to review the position description to determine how their education and experience align with the role requirements and invite qualified applicants to apply.
