Biomed Technician

The Biomed Technician performs preventive maintenance, safety testing, incoming inspections, installation, troubleshooting, repair, calibration and documentation to certain patient care equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s Degree in Biomed Equipment Technology or equivalent training and experience required
• 4-5 years of Biomed Equipment Technology experience
• Completion of equipment manufacturer’s certification course within three months of hire
• Excellent grammar, verbal communication, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, manage processes and use creative methods to implement and improve procedures and programs
• Ability to successfully manage and adapt to varying business climates expeditiously
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Must be able to travel by personal or company vehicle, hold a valid driver’s license, have an automobile in good repair, and have proof of auto insurance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Inspects and installs clinical and related technical equipment
• Services various equipment and apparatus, such as patient monitors, ventilators and infusion pumps
• Repairs, calibrates, and maintains equipment, using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and knowledge of manufacturers' manuals, troubleshooting techniques, and preventive maintenance schedules
• Generates and presents regular reports and reviews of expenditures and purchases
• Safety-tests clinical equipment and LFN’s structural environment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards
• Ascertains that equipment functions properly and safely
• Demonstrates and explains correct operation of equipment to clinical personnel
• Generates and presents regular reports and reviews of expenditures and purchases
• Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives
