Solom is seeking a MS or PhD candidate (or recent graduate) specializing in biodiversity science to join our team in developing cutting-edge nature-based risk analytics tools that translate complex ecological data into actionable business insights.
The Opportunity
You'll work directly with our science team to bridge the gap between academic biodiversity research and real-world business applications. This is a unique chance to apply your specialized knowledge to shape how global companies understand and manage their ecological impacts.
What You'll Do:
* Validate biodiversity risk assessment methodologies using spatial analysis
* Learn ecological indicators that align with TNFD, CSRD, and SBTN frameworks
* Train with algorithms to process multi-scale biodiversity data
* Learn scientifically rigorous yet business-friendly visualization approaches
* Contribute to peer-reviewed publications while building industry-leading tools
* Interface with Fortune 500 sustainability teams to understand their needs
We're Looking For:
* Current MS or PhD candidate or recent graduate (within 2 years) in:
* Landscape Ecology, Conservation Biology, Spatial Ecology, Ecological Modeling, or similar fields
* Strong quantitative skills (R/Python, spatial analysis, statistical modeling)
* Experience with biodiversity databases (GBIF, IUCN, etc.)
* Proven ability to communicate complex science to non-technical audiences
Highly Valued:
* Experience with conservation planning tools
* Knowledge of corporate sustainability frameworks
* GIS/remote sensing expertise
* Machine learning applications in ecology
* Published research in biodiversity assessment or monitoring
